Teaching a Worldview Without a Classroom

By Charles Bishop

Ravi Zacharias tells the story about his nine-year-old deciding to write a book while Ravi was working on one of his. One morning, his son had tears in his eyes, saying, “I know he is going to die.” That caught the Ravi’s attention, who quickly set aside his work and asked about this impending tragedy. He found out that his sons was so caught up in the story he was writing about a dog that he feared the story would lead to its demise.

That true story sounds too strange to be true. But it’s the power of—story! We are pulled into the drama, and it becomes part of us for a moment—or longer. Someone has said, “The arts imitate life, and then life imitates the arts.”

It’s that power of the story we see in the movies and on television that draw us into the drama. But what story is being told? Have we even stopped to think about what is engaging our minds? Has the story grabbed us, and we become a part? Charlie Sheen began living out the life he was portraying on his TV series. He was fired by his employer, and censored by the press. Did anyone stop and ask, “Why?” Was the story he was telling unfit for human consumption?

————–

Gordon: I talked with a woman today. She asserted, “I am thankful for my alcoholism. I am now recovering and I have not drank for several years now. Without my addiction I would have taken health, family, love and life for granted. I would be arrogant and filled with pride. I would not have known of my weaknesses and my strengths. You see, my alcoholism has made me who I am.”

By Gordon Rogers

It is true, God has a way of taking our worst and molding it into our best. Paul states, “When I am weak, that is when I am strong.” [2 Corinthians 12:10]

GOD is able to take our weaknesses and make them strengths. He is able to take liabilities and transform them into assets.

Dear Father, We need your transforming touch. Help us to realize that your power flows through us and you can take our failures and turn them into victory. Thank you LORD for the power that you give us to make us new and whole. In Jesus’s name we pray, amen!
