Ministries

Our ministries are groups formed within our congregation to effectively serve our family and neighbors. We are excited about how God works through us and the future of His church. If you are interested in learning more about West Douglas or any of our programs, please contact us. We would love to hear from you! Here is a sampling of our ministries:

Children’s Church: During the sermon, children are invited to attend Children’s Church. Elder Russell Ashby involves children through lessons, singing, and activities. Children (ages 2 to fifth grade) are welcome to attend.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast: The men of West Douglas meet at Spear’s Restaurant every Tuesday at 6:45 a.m. to worship together.

Quilting Ministry: The Quilting Ministry at West Douglas meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The ladies of this ministry have quilted blankets for the Ronald McDonald House, women’s shelters, and various charities. They also have made pillow cases for the Juvenile Detention Center.

Wednesday Night Meals: Every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., meals are provided to members and guests for a small fee of $3.00 per person. This gives us the opportunity to fellowship together before evening classes.  Typically, the cooks take a break during the summer.

Women’s Counseling: Member Juanita Davis is available to counsel or visit with women on Thursday afternoons. Juanita was a school counselor for 26 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. If you would like to schedule a session with Juanita, call the church office (262-6892) to make an appointment.

Youth Group: West Douglas’s youth group has attended camps such as Silver Maple, Pettijohn Springs, and Soul Quest. They also have been involved in activities such as free car washes, lock-ins, and devotionals.

Missions: West Douglas financially supports Jim Corner with his missions in Cameroon, Africa. To learn more about this ministry and how you can help, please visit http://www.cameroon4christ.org.
